The road from Woodstock to Le Touquet
Aston & James are delighted to be taking part in Twin Town Challenge 2020+2, raising funds for the fantastic charity SpecialEffect, which helps to transform the lives of physically disabled people right across the world through the innovative use of technology.
What is the Twin Town Challenge?
The A&J team - also known as 'The Village PPEople' - will start their driving adventure from Blenheim Palace in Woodstock to Le Touquet (Witney's twin town) in northern France, as part of a fun charity car rally with a series of fun events and challenges along the way. All the teams taking part buy an old £500 banger (car) and ‘pimp their ride’ in their own style and decorate it however they like. Over 100 cars are taking part in the challenge which commences on Friday the 29th of April for 4 days over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend.
The teams will be arriving around 6.30 pm in Le Touquet, where they will be greeted by our French compatriots who will be throwing a street party which will include, live bands, fine french food and drinks. On their return to England, at Blenheim Palace, afternoon tea and awards will round off the road trip. All in aid of a great cause.
The Village PPEople
Our team is Darren Aston - The Chief, Peter Mols - The Policeman, Mike Jennings - The Construction Worker & Paul Britton - The Cowboy. The Village PPEople are ready to bring old school funk and fashion to Twin Town 2020+2. The Car is a £400 Vauxhall Zafira with 123,000 miles on the clock! It's decorated now in a full Village PPEople wrap. We're hoping it will get us to Le Touquet and back!
There was a song back in the 1970s that some of you may be familiar with, it goes something like...
"Young man, there's no need to feel down I said,
young man, pick yourself off the ground I said,
young man, 'cause you're in Twin Town There's no need to be unhappy"
About the Twin Town Challenge
The challenge to date has raised over £850,000 since it was established in 2014, it takes place every two years to raise funds for a brilliant charity SpecialEffect which focuses on transforming the lives of physically disabled people right across the world through innovative use of technology. Unfortunately, 2022 brings Twin Town to an end, with this year being the final one. This is another great reason to support the event.
